This chain is called the Kawung, named after a beloved batik motif from Central Java, Indonesia. The Kawung motif features a round shape arranged in a geometric pattern. In Javanese culture, this pattern symbolizes human life, reminding people to always remember their roots.
Each link is hand-forged and individually woven to create a chain full of movement that gets softer with time. This piece is made to order, please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery. The process begins with pure 24k yellow gold, to which I add fine silver and copper to create an 18k gold alloy. While each piece is handmade and may have slight variations, the style and overall feel will remain the same.
